Tannat 2024 (Vin de France)
/
#Biodynamics #Back to the cellar
How good a pure Tannat is... nat! A magnificent garnet color, a very delicate powdery nose of faded flowers, a long, tangy palate of redcurrant and morello cherry, supported by lovely tannins on the finish. It’s fresh, frank, playful, and so easy to drink. But what is the secret to such an easy-drinking Tannat??
15 beautiful Salers cows, 20 Manech black-headed sheep, 20 hectares of meadows and cereals, fruit trees, market gardening, beehives, kilometers of hedges, and finally... 10 hectares of vines! Welcome to Kévin Barbet, a young, activist farmer-winemaker at the head of the Domaine de Lafage, an exemplary agricultural estate managed through polyculture and biodynamics, located in the heart of the Quercy Blanc, a splendid terroir in the Tarn-et-Garonne region nestled between Cahors and Montauban.
A dream ecosystem, a strong collective, an enlightened systemic approach, and a happy farmer... There it is, the secret to this lovely glass! Add a short maceration, gentle pressing, 8 months of aging in vats, and the mystery is fully unveiled.
You'll see, like any self-respecting Tannat, it’s a bit shy: if you have the time, decant it for a quick 30 minutes to make it feel completely at ease; you won't regret it.

🤗 Our tasting & storage tips
🤗 Our tasting & storage tips
Recommended serving temperatures:
- White and rosé wines: between 7 and 10°C
- Light red wines, orange wines (skin-contact whites), and "blouges" (light red-white blends): around 13°C
- Structured red wines: between 15 and 18°C
It is always better to serve a wine slightly too cool than too warm.
BIB (bag-in-box) wines are very good if you serve them directly from the tap. But "to your surprise," you will find that they always benefit from being decanted or bottled 15 to 30 minutes before tasting.
Before and after opening, it is ideal to store your BIB wine at a constant temperature below 20°C. The closer the storage temperature is to 14°C, the longer the wine will keep.
Once opened, under good storage conditions, the BIB preserves the organoleptic qualities of the wine for at least 4 weeks.
BIB wine, like bottled wine, has no "use by" date or "best before" date.
That said, BIB wine is not intended for cellar aging. We recommend consuming it within 2 months of purchase.
Note: Red and orange wines keep better and longer than white and rosé wines. Thank the tannins for that!
Enjoy your tasting! 🍷🍷
