#Back in the cellar
Montana is a splendid polyculture estate located at the foot of Pic du Canigou in Roussillon, specifically in Banyuls-dels-Aspres. The Aspres region is a terroir of plateaus and clay-limestone hills, renowned for the coolness of its nights and its exposure to the wind—a land of great wines since the dawn of time.
It now belongs to the Jonquères d’Oriola family, distant cousins of Pierre, whom our elders knew as an outstanding horseman (2 Olympic gold medals), a rugby player, or... a winemaker, even back then! And after tasting the Montana wines today, there is no doubt: a quest for excellence and a sense of conviviality continue to flow through the family's veins!
In this Côtes Catalanes, we find everything we love about Roussillon red wines. Syrah (70%) and Carignan (30%) for the grape varieties; power, presence, depth, and generosity as the guiding principles.
The nose is an explosion of red and black fruits, liquorice, spices, and thyme. The palate is in harmony, heady, velvety, and spicy. One starts dreaming of a méchoui, a game terrine, a Kintoa pork chop, or squares of dark chocolate with Espelette pepper.
A fantastic bottle for a feast, at an unbeatable price. Thank you Cyrielle for this wonderful discovery!

🤗 Our tasting & storage tips
🤗 Our tasting & storage tips
Recommended serving temperatures:
- White and rosé wines: between 7 and 10°C
- Light red wines, orange wines (skin-contact whites), and "blouges" (light red-white blends): around 13°C
- Structured red wines: between 15 and 18°C
It is always better to serve a wine slightly too cool than too warm.
BIB (bag-in-box) wines are very good if you serve them directly from the tap. But "to your surprise," you will find that they always benefit from being decanted or bottled 15 to 30 minutes before tasting.
Before and after opening, it is ideal to store your BIB wine at a constant temperature below 20°C. The closer the storage temperature is to 14°C, the longer the wine will keep.
Once opened, under good storage conditions, the BIB preserves the organoleptic qualities of the wine for at least 4 weeks.
BIB wine, like bottled wine, has no "use by" date or "best before" date.
That said, BIB wine is not intended for cellar aging. We recommend consuming it within 2 months of purchase.
Note: Red and orange wines keep better and longer than white and rosé wines. Thank the tannins for that!
Enjoy your tasting! 🍷🍷
