Dernier Cru 2023 (Vin de France)
/
#Exclusive #NewArrival
What a wonderful farewell gift! For her final vintage and ultimate cuvée, Géraldine, a.k.a. "La Têtue" (The Stubborn One) to those close to her, insisted that this "Dernier Cru" be a signature cuvée—a wine she gave her all for, one she will be proud of down to the last drop, a nectar that allows her to turn the page with her head held high.
And to make this pleasure accessible to as many people as possible, it's a BIB (bag-in-box) and nothing else! Exactly 280 in total, and not one more.
And what will you find in this 2023 Dernier Cru? Precisely all of Géraldine. Starting with the concentrated juice of her old Gamay vines, planted on the steep slopes of Thurins in the Coteaux du Lyonnais, hand-harvested, 50% destemmed, and vinified using the millefeuille method, followed by 18 months of aging in stainless steel tanks.
The result lives up to the promise. The color is a fairly light ruby; the nose is very ripe, with notes of blackcurrant and Burlat cherry. On the palate, the fruit remains king, but it is more structured than the color and nose suggest. The juice has retained its tension and minerality; the tannins are present but display great finesse. It goes down easy, yet it is light-years away from a "three-week gulping wine."
Thank you so much, Géraldine, for this final treat in your company! For this delicious Cru from the heart... We wish you all the best in your new adventures (while secretly dreaming that you might make a return to the vines someday...).

🤗 Our tasting & storage tips
🤗 Our tasting & storage tips
Recommended serving temperatures:
- White and rosé wines: between 7 and 10°C
- Light red wines, orange wines (skin-contact whites), and "blouges" (light red-white blends): around 13°C
- Structured red wines: between 15 and 18°C
It is always better to serve a wine slightly too cool than too warm.
BIB (bag-in-box) wines are very good if you serve them directly from the tap. But "to your surprise," you will find that they always benefit from being decanted or bottled 15 to 30 minutes before tasting.
Before and after opening, it is ideal to store your BIB wine at a constant temperature below 20°C. The closer the storage temperature is to 14°C, the longer the wine will keep.
Once opened, under good storage conditions, the BIB preserves the organoleptic qualities of the wine for at least 4 weeks.
BIB wine, like bottled wine, has no "use by" date or "best before" date.
That said, BIB wine is not intended for cellar aging. We recommend consuming it within 2 months of purchase.
Note: Red and orange wines keep better and longer than white and rosé wines. Thank the tannins for that!
Enjoy your tasting! 🍷🍷
