3L or 5L BIB: How to choose based on your needs?
The 3L (= 4 bottles) is ideal for discovering a new wine, for 1 to 2 people who drink occasionally, or as a gift. The 5L (= 6.7 bottles) is better suited for regular enthusiasts, families, and special occasions. In both cases, the quality of the wine inside is identical.
You're sold on the BIB — one question remains: 3 liters or 5 liters? It depends on your consumption habits, your usage, and the space you have available.
A quick reminder on equivalencies
A 3L BIB = 4 bottles of 75cl. A 5L BIB = approximately 6.7 bottles.
The 3L BIB: for who, for what?
For risk-free discovery. If you are hesitant about a grape variety or a winery, the 3L allows you to test without committing to a large volume. This is our recommendation for first-time orders.
For 1 or 2 people who drink occasionally. With 4 to 6 weeks of shelf life after opening, you have plenty of time even if you don't drink often.
As a gift. More compact and easy to carry, the 3L has a "gift" appeal that the 5L does not always have.
To save space. Fits anywhere — in a cupboard, on the bottom shelf of the fridge.
The 5L BIB: for who, for what?
For regular enthusiasts. Do you drink a glass or two several times a week? The 5L lasts longer and offers a better price-to-quantity ratio.
For families or multi-person households. The format keeps up with demand without needing to restock too often.
For apéritifs and big dinners. A 5L allows you to comfortably serve 8 to 10 people without worrying about running out.
For a better ecological footprint. For the same volume, the 5L has a better packaging-to-contents ratio — less packaging per liter of wine.

And what about the quality?
The format has absolutely no impact on the quality of the wine. The only difference is the volume, the price per liter (often better for the 5L), and the size.
